"To me fire is not just a means of creating heat. It’s a force of nature whose power is stronger than that of human beings. It is itself a living being that challenges me every time I fire my kiln.
I have nothing to hide. I don’t use any technical firing tricks that I would have to keep a secret. Anyone is welcome to be there and help out.
For me, firing the kiln means becoming one with the fire. I don’t use a thermometer or Seger cones. I rely completely on what I see, hear and feel. The color and movement of the flames, the voice of the kiln and the fire’s voice."
