TOYOBA Seiya

"I want to create ceramics that one doesn’t grow tired of. Pieces that have their own character. With their own inner stillness, nothing forced. I don’t mind if they look a little clumsy.

A good piece is one that you don’t notice when its sitting next to you, but when it’s gone you miss it.

Pieces like that can’t be made intentionally. If one tries from the start to make something special, one usually doesn’t end up with character but just something artifical.

There’s nothing special about making ceramics. That’s why it’s so difficult."
